1946年、アメリカオレゴン州発の
老舗カジュアルウェアブランド”Norm Thompson”
元々は創業者が旅をし、世界中の珍しい衣類や
食材などを販売していたようです。
パネルで切り替えられたカラフルな色使い、
しっとりと柔らかいニット生地、そんな見た目と
質感に惹かれた1着です。

そういえば90's頃のアイテムで、アメリカの
ブランドでありながらカナダ製の個体があるのは、
関税が比較的安く、かつ国内生産と変わらない
クオリティを維持できたからだそうです。
あとはカナダ製という響きが、
ブランドイメージにも合うブランドが多く、
カナダが選ばれていたようです。

Norm Thompson is a long-established casual
wear brand founded in Oregon, USA in 1946.
The founder originally traveled around the
world selling rare clothing and ingredients.
I was drawn to this piece for its colorful
paneled designs and soft, supple knit
fabric—its look and feel.

Speaking of which, some items from the '90s
were made in Canada despite being
American brands.
Apparently, this was because tariffs were
relatively low and the brand was able to
maintain the same quality as domestically
produced items.
Also, the "Made in Canada" sound fit the
brand image well, so Canada was chosen.
