80's~ "BOOKS OF LOVE" altered book art

アメリカのアーティスト兼詩人である
Judith Bondが、1986年に手掛けた作品
”BOOK OF LOVE”
どうやら処分されるはずだった本物の古本を使用し、
9つの手作業を経て制作されているようです。

”Footprints in the Sand”
こちらは1930年代から1960年代頃に、
複数の詩人に作られたとされる詩のようで、
お見舞いや祈りのギフトとして贈られていたそうです。
自己満足と言ってしまえばそれまでですが、
こんなオブジェが心休まる部屋の一角にあれば、
より気分良く過ごせるのではないでしょうか。

"An Unreadable Book"
This is a work titled *Book of Love*,
created in 1986 by the American artist and
poet Judith Bond.
It appears to be made from a genuine vintage
book—one originally destined for disposal—
and crafted through a process involving nine
distinct manual steps.

"Footprints in the Sand"
This piece features a poem believed to have
been written by various poets between the
1930s and the 1960s;
it was commonly given as a gift to offer
comfort or prayers to those in need.
One might dismiss it as a mere indulgence, but
having such an object in a quiet corner of the
room could surely help create a more peaceful
and pleasant atmosphere.
